James Cooley

James Cooley is a highly experienced engineer currently leading the Magnet Engineering Team at Commonwealth Fusion Systems since May 2023. Prior to this role, James held various leadership positions at Mevion Medical Systems from June 2012 to May 2023, including Head of New Product Engineering, Director of Advanced Development, Senior R&D Engineer, and Accelerator Engineer. Earlier in career, James gained experience as a Research Scientist at Agilent Technologies from April 2007 to April 2012, focusing on experimental plasma physics and ion optics. James holds a PhD in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University and a BS in Physics from Caltech.
