Chuck Coney has a diverse work experience spanning over three decades. Chuck began their career as a Manager of Mechanical Engineering at R.T. Patterson Company, where they provided consulting engineering and construction management services to various industries. Chuck later moved on to become the Assistant Engineering Manager, overseeing the business operations and a technical workforce.
Chuck then joined Alcan Primary Metals Group, where they served as a Reliability Engineer, ensuring safe and efficient equipment and processes. Chuck also worked as a Continuous Improvement Black Belt, leading projects that generated significant savings for the company.
After Alcan, Chuck joined Rio Tinto Alcan as a Maintenance Manager and later as a Smelting Manager. In these roles, they provided leadership and direction to meet business goals while focusing on safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency.
Chuck's career continued at Rio Tinto, where they held the position of Manager of Strategic Projects & Business Improvement. Here, they managed a team and oversaw projects with substantial economic value and long-term sustainability.
Chuck then transitioned to Century Aluminum as the Manufacturing Manager at one of their facilities, where they were responsible for the safe and efficient production of quality products. Chuck later became the Corporate Technical Manager, providing technical direction and integrating best practices across multiple plants.
Before their current role as the Chief Technology Officer at Commonwealth Rolled Products, Chuck held various positions at Aleris. This included serving as the Director of Supply Chain, overseeing all supply chain activities and implementing advanced planning and scheduling systems. Chuck also led the Hot Mill Transformation project, focusing on meeting the automotive sector's demands.
Throughout their career, Chuck has demonstrated strong leadership, strategic thinking, and a track record of achieving results.
Chuck Coney obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University from 1983 to 1988. Chuck also received a Professional Engineer certification for the states of Indiana and Kentucky from the same institution. Prior to their college education, Chuck attended Reitz Memorial High School for an unknown duration.
