Joseph Milazzo

Director of Employment and Training at CAO of Western New York

Joseph Milazzo has been working in the field of employment and training for over two years. Joseph is currently the Director of Employment and Training at the Community Action Organization of Western New York. In this role, they lead new program development and an ongoing continuous improvement process to ensure continuing high quality and high impact services. Joseph also effectively supervises Employment Specialists, Training and Education staff, helping residents and community members achieve their education and employment goals.

Prior to their current role, Milazzo served as the Director of Career Services at Villa Maria College. In this role, they coached and mentored over 250 students and alumni across academic programs and fields in job search skills including career assessment, resume building, cover letter writing, graduate school applications and personal statements, LinkedIn building, and interview skill development. Joseph also cultivated relationships with area employers to connect students with recruiters for successful job placement. In addition, they designed and taught a Career Development course for students about career exploration, helping them choose college majors and professional paths while assisting them in building skills and finding resources to pursue their career of choice.

Joseph Milazzo has a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from Buffalo State College, a Master's degree in Social Studies Teacher Education from Buffalo State College, and a Postgraduate degree in Social Studies Teacher Education from Buffalo State College. Joseph also has a Getting Talent Back to Work Certificate from SHRM and a SHRM Veterans at Work Certificate from SHRM. Additionally, they have a ROMA Training from the New York State Community Action Association (NYSCAA) and a Thinking for a Change from the Department of Justice. Lastly, they have a Social Studies Teacher Certfification from the New York State Education Department and a Mental Health First Aid USA from the National Council for Behavioral Health.
