Alhelí M. Herrera is a seasoned community engagement consultant currently working with Community Catalyst since February 2022. Previous experience includes serving as an independent consultant from July 2017 to February 2022 and as a manager at Cultivate: Women of Color Leadership from February 2019 to September 2021, where efforts focused on empowering women of color leaders for social and economic justice in the Chicago region. Alhelí held various roles at Enlace Chicago from November 2009 to August 2015, notably as Teacher Pathways Coordinator and as Director of Organizing, enhancing teaching quality in low-income communities and organizing immigration support for community members. Earlier positions include program management at FEDECMI - Casa Michoacan, citizenship instruction at Instituto del Progreso Latino, consulting at Ciorba Group, and youth organizing with the Illinois Coalition for Immigrant and Refugee Rights, advocating for the DREAM Act and in-state tuition reform. Alhelí holds a Bachelor of Arts in Latin American and Latino Studies from the University of Illinois Chicago and an Associate of Arts in General Studies from Morton College.
