Sharmyn Straughters

Sharmyn Straughters is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in student engagement and recruitment, currently serving as the Director of Student Life & Engagement and Center Director at the Community College of Allegheny County since July 2014. In this role, Sharmyn collaborates with enrollment management to devise strategic plans aimed at both adult and high school markets while actively conducting recruitment efforts in high schools and college fairs. Additionally, Sharmyn has worked as a Coordinator at Neighborhood Learning Alliance since February 2016 and held various recruitment and student success roles at CCAC until February 2024. Prior experience includes serving as an On-Air Personality at multiple radio stations, including WAMO 100.1FM and Z107.9 FM, from 2005 to 2015. Sharmyn holds a Master of Science in Organizational Leadership with a focus on Nonprofit Leadership from Robert Morris University and a Bachelor of Science in Communications Media from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
