Cindy Matthews has extensive experience in communications and marketing roles. Cindy started their career in 1991 as an Assistant Director of Public Relations and Marketing at Humana Hospital. Cindy then worked as an Assistant Director of Communications for World Youth Day in 1992 and 1993, where they managed all public and media relations for the event. In 1993, they served as a Temporary Public Relations Manager for the Denver Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau.
From 1994 to 1997, Matthews worked as a Communications Manager for the City of Arvada, where they were responsible for municipal communications efforts, including publications, employee relations, and marketing strategies. Cindy also managed the start-up and operations of Arvada's government access cable channel.
Matthews then joined Columbia Colorado Division in 1997 as a Public Affairs Coordinator, responsible for public relations and public affairs activities for medical centers and product lines. Cindy managed the division's website and communications materials.
In 1997, Matthews started working at the West Metro Fire Protection District as a Community Outreach Director and Public Information Officer. Cindy handled all aspects of communication and outreach, including media relations, training, public service announcements, and community engagement. Cindy also served as a Public Information Officer for FEMA's Colorado Task Force One.
From 2012 to 2014, Matthews worked at Denver Health as a Public Relations & Marketing Strategist, where they developed and implemented communication strategies.
In 2014, they served as a Communications Director at Regis University for a brief period.
In 2015, Matthews joined the Jefferson County Public Library as a Marketing and Promotions Manager, responsible for marketing and communications efforts.
Since 2020, they have been working at Community First Foundation, first as a Marketing and Communications Manager and later as the Director of Communications and Community Outreach.
Throughout their career, Matthews has demonstrated expertise in various aspects of communication, including media relations, public relations, marketing, and community outreach.
Cindy Matthews holds a Master of Arts degree in Communication, with an emphasis on Media and Public Relations, which they obtained from the University of Colorado Denver between 1994 and 1997. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Journalism and Mass Communication from the University of Colorado Boulder, graduating between 1986 and 1990. In addition to their formal education, Cindy has also obtained the "Insight to Inclusive Leadership Badge" certification from the Latino Leadership Institute in May 2022.
