Marlene Spalten

Marlene Spalten is the President & CEO at Community Foundation Tampa Bay. Marlene has over 20 years of experience in fundraising and community relations.

Spalten began their career in 1988 as the Director of Development at The Forman School. Marlene then moved on to The Bolles School where they served as the Associate Head of School/Advancement and Planning. In this role, they were responsible for external relations including fundraising, parent and alumni programs, communications, admissions, and campus planning.

In 2004, Spalten joined Baptist Health as the Vice President and Executive Director of the Baptist Health Foundation. In this role, they planned and managed all Foundation activities including fundraising and community relations. Marlene also guided the selection and development of the Foundation's Board of Trustees and managed Trustee involvement in fundraising and marketing. In addition, they represented the Foundation on the organization's executive team and in the community. Marlene also initiated and nurtured community partnerships with corporations, foundations, and nonprofit organizations.

Spalten has been with Community Foundation Tampa Bay since December 2012, first serving as the Senior Vice President before being promoted to President & CEO in 2016. Under their leadership, the foundation has grown significantly, awarding over $50 million in grants and scholarships each year.

Marlene Spalten has a Bachelor's degree in English from Cornell College and certification from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education in Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace Certificate. Marlene is also certified by CFRE International as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) and by the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy as a Fellow of the Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (FAHP).
