Fiona Thornton

Strategic Planning Manager at The National Lottery Community Fund

Fiona Thornton has a diverse work experience spanning various organizations and roles. In 2014, they began their career as a Property Assistant at The National Trust for Scotland, where they worked until 2015. Fiona then moved to National Museums Scotland as a Visitor Services Assistant from 2015 to 2016. Fiona then returned to The National Trust for Scotland as a Senior Property Assistant in 2016. In 2017, they joined Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Museum as a Project Collections Officer for a year, and simultaneously worked as a National & International Partnerships Officer at National Museums Scotland from 2017 to 2022. Currently, Fiona holds the position of Knowledge and Learning Officer at The National Lottery Community Fund, and recently started serving as a Strategic Planning Manager.

Fiona Thornton pursued their Master's degree in Museum Studies from the University of Glasgow, from the year 2015 to 2016. Prior to that, they completed their undergraduate education at the same institution, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economic and Social History in the period from 2010 to 2014.
