Gillian Schaps

Gillian Schaps is a highly experienced attorney specializing in family advocacy, currently serving as the Supervising Attorney for the Family Advocacy Unit at Community Legal Services since January 2022, after previously being a Staff Attorney. Prior experience includes working as a Staff Attorney and Equal Justice Works Fellow at the Support Center for Child Advocates, where representation and advocacy for foster youth were central responsibilities. Gillian represented clients during custody and domestic relations cases as a Student Attorney and Chair of the Family Practice Task Force at the Harvard Legal Aid Bureau. Additional roles include a Legal Intern at Suffolk County Courthouse and a Mediator with Harvard Mediators, alongside prior experiences as a Pro Bono and Intake Assistant at the Children's Law Center and a Court Advocate at DC SAFE. Gillian holds a Juris Doctor, cum laude, from Harvard Law School and a Bachelor of Arts in English and Political Science from The University of Georgia.
