Heather Bernard, DNP, RN, CIC, FAPIC has extensive experience in infection prevention and nursing leadership. Heather is currently serving as the Vice President of Nursing and Clinical Services at Community Memorial Hospital since January 2022. Prior to this role, they worked at the CDC Foundation as an Infection Preventionist from August 2020 to January 2022. From March 2014 to August 2020, Heather held the position of Director of Infection Prevention at Mohawk Valley Health System. Before that, they worked as the Director of Infection Prevention at Faxton St. Luke's Healthcare from June 2008 to March 2014. Heather started their career as an Infection Prevention Coordinator at Community Memorial Hospital in October 2003 until June 2008.

Heather Bernard, DNP, RN, CIC, FAPIC, completed their education in the field of nursing and infection prevention. Heather received their Doctor of Nursing Practice degree with a specialization in Population Based Infection Prevention and Environmental Safety from Loyola University Chicago, where they studied from 2012 to 2016. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Registered Nursing from SUNY Polytechnic Institute, where they attended from 1997 to 2001. Heather had previously received an Associate's degree in Nursing from Sports men and women careers between 1993 and 1995. Additionally, Heather Bernard holds a Certification in Infection Control & Epidemiology, which they obtained from the CBIC (Certification Board of Infection Control and Epidemiology, Inc.) in June 2005.
