Zay Yar Phyo Aung has a diverse work experience in various organizations and roles. Starting from 2009, they worked as a Medical Doctor at Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) until 2010, and then transitioned to become an HIV/TB Doctor at the same organization from 2011 to 2013.

From 2013 to 2016, they worked at Première Urgence Internationale as a TB Clinical Doctor from 2013 to 2015, and then as a TB Program Manager from 2015 to 2016.

In 2016, they joined the Shoklo Malaria Research Unit as a TB Program Manager until 2017, and then worked as a Medical Officer at Dreamlopments for a few months.

In 2018, they briefly served as a Migration Health Physician at the International Organization for Migration (IOM), UN Migration Agency.

From 2020 to 2021, they worked as a Deputy Program Director at the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Disease (The Union).

Currently, Zay Yar Phyo Aung is engaged with Community Partners International, first as a Senior Program Manager from 2021 to 2022, and now as the Deputy Director (Research and Policy) starting from September 2022.

Zay Yar Phyo Aung pursued their education in a chronological manner. In 2002-2008, they attended the University of Medicine 2, Yangon, where they obtained their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree in the field of medicine. Later, in 2018-2019, they enrolled at the University of Oxford and completed a Master of Science (MSc) in International Health and Tropical Medicine, with a focus on global health. These are the only educational experiences available for Zay Yar Phyo Aung.
