Community Resources for Justice
Shannon Streisel has dedicated her work in research to better understanding substance use within the criminal justice population, drug policy, reentry, and desistance. Shannon continues to research these topics through her work on the Justice Reinvestment Initiative at CJI by conducting data analysis and policy work. Previously, Shannon led evaluation efforts of a police-led addiction assistance program in Delaware that ultimately resulted in a BJA grant that allowed professional civilians to be hired to improve the treatment of people struggling with behavioral health and addiction. Shannon is committed to working towards a more humane criminal justice system that focuses on building up individuals and communities with needed resources to increase the quality of life.
Shannon holds a Ph.D. and MA in Criminology from the University of Delaware and attended the College of New Jersey for her BS, which was also in Criminology.
