Fernando J. Muñiz

Mr. Muniz has more than 20 years of experience in government and non-profit management. He joined CSI after serving as the Deputy Commissioner for the Connecticut Department of Children and Families (DCF). In that role, he oversaw the Department's human resources, fiscal, information systems ar training functions. Before his appointment as Deputy Commissioner, he served as DCF's Chief of Quality and Planning and as a Program Director in the Bureau of Continuous Quality Improvement. Prior to joining state government, he was the Executive Director of the Connecticut Juvenile Justice Alliance where he advocated for reform of the state's juvenile justice system.

Mr. Muniz earned a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Fairfield University, a Master's Degree in Public Administrator from New York University and a Certificate in Multi-System Integration from Georgetown University. He served as President of the New England Association of Child Welfare Commission( and as a member of the National Juvenile Justice Network Advisory Council. Currently, he serves on the boards of the Connecticut Community Nonprofit Alliance, the Rhode Island Coalition for Children and Families, Elm City Montessori School and the Community Foundation for Greater New Haven.
