Popianna Tsiortou

Popianna Tsiortou is a PhD Candidate at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens School of Medicine, focusing on the pathophysiology of autoimmune neurological movement disorders, particularly examining the functional role of anti-GAD antibodies. Concurrently serving as a Laboratory Supervisor at Μητροπολιτικό Κολλέγιο since September 2021, Popianna oversees and trains students in various scientific disciplines. Previous experience includes roles as a Research Collaborator at the Biomedical Research Foundation of the Academy of Athens, where Popianna conducted experiments on autoimmune neurological disorders, and as a Research Assistant, investigating long non-coding RNA in neural stem cells as well as conducting behavioral studies on Parkinson's disease in mice. Popianna holds a Master of Science in Molecular Medicine and a Bachelor's degree in Biology from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens.
