Joel MacHaria

Joel Macharia is an accomplished professional with extensive experience in leadership and organizational development. Currently serving as the Senior Regional Director and previously as the National Director at Compassion International since March 2010, Joel has successfully set up operations in Malawi to enhance the lives of children and young people from low-income households. In Kenya, Joel led a dedicated team and collaborated with over 450 church partners to empower more than 130,000 young people to overcome poverty and reach their full potential. Prior to this role, Joel worked as an Accountant at Kenya Airways, focusing on financial accounting, budgeting, and payroll administration. Joel holds a Master of Arts in Organizational Leadership from Africa International University, a Higher Diploma in Human Resource Management from the Institute of Human Resource Management, an MBA in Finance from Daystar University, and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of Nairobi.
