Michele Lee

Board Member at Compassion International

Michele has a long history of providing services for those who are vulnerable and have experienced trauma, first as a provider of mental health services and now through her service with International Justice Mission (IJM), a global organization partnering with local justice systems to end violence against people living in poverty.

After working as a psychologist for more than 10 years, including her work at the University of Pennsylvania and for the Arlington County Government, Michele joined IJM in 2012. Her early work at IJM included guiding the aftercare strategy for survivors of violence. She currently supports IJM’s global work of bringing justice and restoration to survivors of violence as their global vice president of justice solutions.

Michele is passionate about the holistic integration of all aspects of a person’s life and strongly supports Compassion’s ministry of holistic child development. Her educational background includes a Master of Art and a Master of Education in psychological counseling from Columbia University and a doctorate in counseling psychology from New York University. Her expertise in understanding the impacts of trauma was shaped by her experience with the 9/11 terrorist attacks.

Michele and her husband live in Virginia and have three children.
