Robert Hawkins

Robert Hawkins is the General Counsel and Chief Strategy Officer. Robert has previously served as the Chief Marketing Officer, Essence Magazine and the Vice President and General Manager, Fortune Magazine Conference Division.

Hawkins has been with Compassion International since January 2002. In their role as Chief Marketing Officer, they were responsible for providing marketing and business development support for sales force, and promotional support for the Essence Music Festival and the Essence Awards Show. Under their leadership, the department generated over $100M in annual revenue. Hawkins also helped drive record ad sales and newsstand revenue growth, earning Ad Age Magazine’s “A List” award.

In their role as Vice President and General Manager of the Fortune Magazine Conference Division, Hawkins was responsible for leading a global team in developing C-Suite Conferences and events for FORTUNE 500 companies internationally. Robert oversaw programming, client relations, contract negotiations, and complex logistics across multiple internal departments. Robert also managed negotiations with foreign governments and held profit and loss for a multimillion dollar budget. Hawkins served on executive leadership team and generated record levels of new client and revenue growth. Robert won the Time Inc. President’s Award for achievement in innovative branding.

Robert Hawkins has a Bachelors Degree in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania and a Juris Doctorate in Law from Widener University School of Law. Robert is certified by the Bar Associations in Admitted to Bar of U.S. Supreme Court, American Bar Association, Delaware Bar Association, New Jersey Bar Association and Colorado Bar Association. Robert is also certified by Various Companies in Seven Habits of Highly Effective People; How to Win Friends and Influence People; Center for Strategic Leadership.
