Tim Smoak has a strong background in business development and regulatory compliance within the telecommunications industry. Tim has held various roles, including Vice President of Business Development at Comporium, where they were responsible for identifying areas for network expansion and negotiating agreements with infrastructure partners. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Interconnection Services and Manager of Interconnection and Revenue at Comporium. Tim also has experience in regulatory management at US LEC and GTE, as well as in teaching as an Adjunct Instructor at York Technical College. Tim began their career as a Network Administrator at SCANA.
Tim Smoak has a diverse education history. In 1986, they attended the South Carolina Governor's School for the Arts and Humanities to study voice. Tim then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the College of Charleston between 1990 and 1992. In 1992, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Oklahoma, which they completed in 1993. Later, in 2012, Tim Smoak attended Winthrop University, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Finance & Strategic Leadership, which they completed in 2015. Additionally, they obtained certifications such as the Project Management Professional (PMP) from the Project Management Institute in 2016 and the Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt from SCMEP and York Technical College in 2014.
