Rhishikesh Bargaje

Associate Director, Stem Cell Biology at Conception

Rhishikesh Bargaje has a diverse work experience in stem cell biology and research. Rhishikesh started their career as a Research Trainee at Open Vision Inc, where they analyzed aminoacyl-tRNA synthetase polypeptide sequences to construct phylogenetic trees. Rhishikesh then worked as a Visiting Researcher at The Scripps Research Institute.

Rhishikesh gained teaching experience as a co-instructor for an undergraduate biology seminar course at the University of Washington. Rhishikesh also worked as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Institute for Systems Biology, where they generated iPSC cell lines and optimized differentiation protocols for cardiomyocyte generation.

Rhishikesh'snext role was at the National Center for Advancing Translational Sciences (NCATS), where they conducted comprehensive characterization of primary and stem cell-derived hepatocytes and performed high-throughput screening of small molecules.

Rhishikesh then joined ORIG3N as a Scientist and later became an Associate Director. In this role, they led a group in developing a workflow for GMP manufacture of iPSC lines and characterized these lines using a multi-disciplinary approach. Rhishikesh also established a platform for barcoding and cryo-storing the iPSC lines.

Most recently, Rhishikesh became an Associate Director at Conception, where they are responsible for stem cell biology.

Rhishikesh Bargaje's education history is as follows:

- From 2006 to 2012, they attended the CSIR-Institute of Genomics & Integrative Biology, where they pursued a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD degree in Biotechnology.

- In 2015, they attended the Santa Fe Institute for the Complex Systems Winter School.

- In 2014, they attended the Marine Biological Laboratories in Woods Hole, MA, where they studied Gene Regulatory Networks for Development.

- In 2010, they participated in the Science and Communication Workshop at The Wellcome Trust/DBT India Alliance.

- In 2009, they attended the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory for a program on Proteomics.

- From 2004 to 2006, they pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Zoology with a specialization in Molecular Biology at Savitribai Phule Pune University.

- From 2001 to 2004, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Zoology from S. P. College, University of Pune.

- From 1994 to 2001, they completed High School/Secondary Diploma Programs at Sainik School Satara.

In addition to their formal education, in November 2016, they obtained a certification in "Getting Started in Photography" from LinkedIn.
