David H. Young

David H. Young has had a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several roles and industries.

In 1983, they began their career as a Design Automation Engineer at Amdahl Corporation, where they learned PL/I and C programming languages and gained experience in defining new CPU and Buffer boards.

From 1993 to 1995, Young worked at The Santa Cruz Operation as a Product Manager of Future Technologies. In this role, they developed internal classes on Lotus 1-2-3 macro development and MS Word, and oversaw the development of Visual Tcl, a scripting language for Motif development.

Young then moved on to Lutris Technologies, where they held multiple roles. From 1996 to 1998, they served as CEO/President, establishing Lutris' consulting business and securing its first round of funding. David H. also ran marketing, training, and project management, leading the delivery of a sales force automation web application for Federal Express. From 1998 to 2001, Young served as Chief Evangelist, establishing Lutris' leadership position in the application server platform market and the open-source movement.

Starting in 2003, Young joined SambaSafety, where they held several positions over the years. David H. served as Chief Technology Officer, leading the technical vision and development of Fleet Management services. David H. successfully implemented new services using open-source technologies and extended integrated services to partners and customers. Young then became a Senior Product Manager, responsible for the new generation SambaSafety billing system and its integration with Salesforce. David H. also captured and reported data for billing and decision support. Finally, they worked as an IT Business Partner, focusing on the functionality, design, and development of a new billing platform for integrating payment perspectives.

More recently, in 2020, Young started their own consulting firm, David H Young Consulting. As a Consultant Software Developer, they contributed their extensive startup and long-haul experience to projects and implementations, offering real-world strategies and hands-on software technology expertise.

In the same year, they also became the Chief Technology Officer of Confianza, Inc. There, they oversee the development of new insurance services and has built a foundation on AWS to support a time-to-market strategy.

David H. Young earned a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Earth Sciences from the University of California, Santa Cruz. David H. attended this university from 1975 to 1978.
