Sharath Hegde

Sharath Hegde has an extensive work experience in the biopharmaceutical industry. Sharath is currently serving as the Chief Scientific Officer at Congruence Therapeutics since November 2022. Prior to this, they held the same position at Herophilus from May 2021 to November 2022, and at Recursion Pharmaceuticals from August 2019 to May 2021.

Before transitioning to their executive roles, Hegde worked at Theravance Biopharma, Inc. for many years. Sharath held several senior positions including Senior Vice President and Head of Research from March 2016 to July 2019, Vice President of Discovery Biology from May 2007 to February 2016, Executive Director of Pharmacology from January 2005 to May 2007, Senior Director of Pharmacology from November 2002 to December 2004, and Director of Pharmacology from March 2001 to November 2002.

Hegde started their career at Syntex Research as an Associate Staff Researcher from 1990 to 1992, and later as a Research Scientist from 1992 to 1996. Sharath then joined Roche Bioscience as a Principal Research Scientist from 1996 to 1999. Sharath'searliest role was at Theravance as an Associate Director of Pharmacology from September 1999 to January 2001. Overall, Hegde has a wealth of experience and expertise in scientific leadership and research in the biopharmaceutical field.

Sharath Hegde received their B.Pharm degree from the Bombay College of Pharmacy Kalina Santacruz (E) Mumbai - 400 098. Sharath then pursued an M.Pharm degree in Pharmacology from the University Institute of Chemical Technology (formerly UDCT). Finally, they completed their education with a PhD in Pharmacology from the University of Houston.
