Joshua L Wagner

Joshua L Wagner has a diverse work experience in the music education field. Joshua L is currently the Director of Jazz Bands and an Instructor of Applied Trumpet at Northwestern Michigan College. Joshua L is also responsible for teaching Music Appreciation at the same institution.

Additionally, Joshua is a Bach Performing Artist at Conn-Selmer, Inc. and serves as an Adjudicator/Clinician for MSBOA. Joshua L is the Owner of Joshua Wagner Music, where they present clinics in trumpet technique, general brass playing, and jazz improvisation. Joshua L also maintains a private lessons studio and works as a freelance musician, playing with various groups including orchestras and jazz ensembles.

Joshua has worked as Brass Faculty for Session IV at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, where they taught Applied Trumpet. Joshua L also served as the Director of the Blue Jazz Ensemble for Session III.

In the past, Joshua was the 1st Trumpet for the National Tour of Bullets Over Broadway: The Musical, with NETwork Presentations, LLC. Joshua L also worked with the Penn-Harris-Madison School System as a Trumpet Instructor/ASJO Director, teaching trumpet and directing the After School Jazz Orchestra.

Prior to that, Joshua was an Applied Trumpet/Jazz Improvisation Instructor at Southwestern Michigan College. Joshua L gained teaching experience as the Assistant Band Director at Culver Educational Foundation, where they taught marching band, jazz band, drum class, and private instrument lessons. Joshua L also founded and directed the Culver Honor Drum unit and composed/arranged music for various events during the summer.

Earlier in their career, Joshua was a Jamey & Sara Aebersold Masters Fellow at Indiana University Bloomington.

Joshua L Wagner began their education at Central Michigan University in 2003, where they pursued a Bachelor of Music Education degree with a focus on instrumental music. Joshua L completed this program in 2008. In the same year, they obtained the Michigan Teacher Certification from the State of Michigan.

Following their undergraduate studies, Joshua continued their education at Indiana University Bloomington from 2008 to 2010. During this time, they pursued a Master of Music degree with a specialization in Jazz Studies/Trumpet Performance.
