Raul Collazo, PhD, has a diverse and extensive work experience in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Raul is currently serving as the Vice President and Global Head of Medical Affairs at Connect Biopharma since November 2021.
Prior to their current role, Raul was a Co-Founder and Advisor at Trovare Pharma Solutions, a consultancy firm specializing in pharmaceutical strategy and operations services. During their tenure at Trovare, they served in various leadership positions, including Head of Medical/Scientific Services, Chief Operating Officer, and Chief Scientific Officer. Raul's expertise includes a wide range of areas such as operations (from discovery to launch), corporate communications, and therapeutic areas such as endocrinology, neuroscience, and gastroenterology.
Before their time at Trovare, Raul worked as a Principal and Head of Medical Affairs at Skysis, a member of Fishawack Health, from April 2020 to November 2021. Raul also held the position of Vice President of Medical & Scientific Affairs at Biotheranostics, Inc. from August 2018 to January 2020.
Prior to their roles at Skysis and Biotheranostics, Raul served as the Head of Medical Affairs at Santarus, Inc. from September 2011 to April 2014. Raul also held positions as Sr. Director and Head of Medical Affairs at Orexigen Therapeutics from January 2009 to June 2011, Director of Medical Affairs at Neurocrine Biosciences from February 2006 to January 2008, and Director of Regional Medical Scientists & Directors at Elan Pharmaceuticals from January 2005 to February 2006.
With a Ph.D. and a wealth of experience in medical affairs, Raul Collazo has a well-rounded background in the pharmaceutical industry and has consistently demonstrated expertise and leadership in various capacities throughout their career.
Dr. Raul Collazo obtained their B.S. degree in Psychology, Mathematics, and Computer Science from The University of Georgia in 1988. Raul then went on to pursue an M.S. degree in Biological/Experimental Psychology at the same institution from 1988 to 1990. Following this, Dr. Collazo joined the University of Oregon, where they completed their Ph.D. in Neurophysiology from 1990 to 1993. In order to further refine their skills and expertise, they undertook a Post Doctoral Fellowship in Neurobiology and Neurosciences at the University of California, San Diego - School of Medicine from 1993 to 1995.
