Margaret M. Donovan is an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Connecticut. Before joining the United States Attorney’s Office, Margaret served six years in the United States Army as an attorney in the Judge Advocate General’s (JAG) Corps. She served on two combat deployments as a legal advisor in the fight against the so-called Islamic State. In that role, she provided legal advice on airstrikes and other lethal engagements in Iraq and Syria. Outside of her combat deployments, Margaret deployed to Liberia as a legal advisor to the military unit that led the United States’ response to the 2014 Ebola virus disease outbreak. Prior to that, she completed a 14-month overseas assignment where she provided legal assistance to Soldiers and Commanders stationed on the Korean peninsula. She holds a B.A. from Fordham University and a J.D. from Fordham Law. As a federal prosecutor, her cases frequently involve national security and cybercrime offenses.
