Joseph Schmidt

Joseph Schmidt has extensive experience in compliance and regulatory matters. Joseph most recently served as the Director of Compliance at Conn's HomePlus since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at Blend as a Compliance Manager, where they co-managed the regulatory compliance program for the company's SaaS flagship product. Joseph also led efforts to update and enhance the company's annual regulatory risk assessment. Joseph worked at Capco as a Principal Consultant, advising C-Suite executives on federal consumer financial protection laws and the development of compliance management systems. Joseph also served as the Director of Compliance & Legal Affairs at Advance Financial, where they headed the compliance department and developed a compliance management system. Joseph's experience also includes roles at the Tennessee Department of Financial Institutions, where they served as the Chief Administrator of Safety & Soundness and an Enforcement Attorney, handling licensing, enforcement actions, and drafting internal policies and procedures.

Joseph Schmidt received their Doctor of Law (JD) degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law in the years 1999 to 2002. Prior to that, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) from 1995 to 1997, with a major in Philosophy and a minor in Economics. Joseph Schmidt is also certified and licensed to practice law in the state of Tennessee.
