Free de Koning has a vast experience in project management and research related to biodiversity, natural resource governance, and conservation. Currently serving as Vice President of Project Development and Impact at Conservation International, Free has also held positions at World Resources Institute and has worked on various projects in countries such as Ecuador, Cameroon, Brazil, India, and Indonesia. With a Doctor of Philosophy and Master of Science in Agricultural Sciences from Wageningen University & Research, Free's expertise lies in overseeing GEF funded projects and leading multidisciplinary research initiatives.
