Csm® Gareth Stevens

Gareth Stevens has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Gareth started their career as an Intern at Varsity Newspaper, where they gained experience in writing news and opinion-based articles. Gareth then moved on to an Internship at Media24, where they learned about the magazine production process and contributed to various sections. Gareth also worked as a Sports Writer at Varsity Newspaper, conducting interviews and writing articles for both the newspaper and its website. At TEAMtalk media, they served as an Editorial Assistant, producing online cricket and rugby commentary, as well as written content for their websites. Gareth then joined Highbury Safika Media as a Junior Staff Writer in the sports department, writing articles and features for various magazines.

Gareth's career transitioned into the field of online education, working at GetSmarter, a subsidiary of 2U Inc. Gareth started as a Learning Designer, developing course content for online study solutions. Gareth then took on the role of a Project Manager, where they managed new course development within budget and time constraints. Gareth eventually became a Lead Project Manager, providing guidance and oversight for the American portfolio of course development.

Most recently, Gareth joined Construct Education as the Director of Delivery. In this role, they are responsible for overseeing the delivery of projects and providing strategic guidance to a team of project managers.

Throughout their career, Gareth has demonstrated expertise in project management, team leadership, and portfolio management.

Gareth Stevens, CSM®, has a bachelor's degree in Economics, Media and Writing, and History from the University of Cape Town, which they obtained from 2008 to 2011. Gareth also holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) (Honours) degree in Media Theory and Practice, which they earned from the same university in 2012. In addition to their formal education, Gareth has obtained several certifications, including being a Certified ScrumMaster® (CSM®) from the Scrum Alliance, which they achieved in April 2019. Gareth also earned certifications in Microsoft Excel for Project Management from Udemy in July 2018, Managing Project Teams from LinkedIn in October 2016, and Managing Team Creativity from LinkedIn in October 2016.
