Mary Sophos

Retired EVP Policy & Strategic Planning at Consumer Brands Association

Mary Sophos has extensive experience in government affairs and policy advocacy, notably serving as the Retired EVP of Policy & Strategic Planning at the Grocery Manufacturers Association since 1993. In this role, Sophos led the successful integration of two merged associations, optimizing organizational synergies and fostering cultural cohesion. Prior to this, Sophos held significant positions, including Assistant Secretary of Treasury for Legislative Affairs under President Bush, where relationships with Congress were cultivated to support bipartisan legislative initiatives. Sophos also directed government affairs at McCAMISH, MARTIN, BROWN & LOEFFLER, advised the U.S. House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee, and worked in various capacities within the White House Office of Management and Budget and the National Canners Association. Sophos holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Political Science and Government from Pitzer College.
