Mathew Smith

Mathew Smith is a seasoned project engineer and manager with extensive experience in the energy and engineering sectors. Currently employed at Contact Energy Ltd, Mathew supports the design and delivery of the 100MW Glenbrook BESS Project. Previous roles include project manager at McKay, where significant achievements included overseeing the construction phase of Aotearoa’s 100MW BESS and managing the design for several utility-scale solar farm projects. Mathew has also held engineering positions at Rocket Lab, Schneider Electric, Emerson Automation Solutions, and Honeywell, contributing across multiple disciplines including instrumentation, control systems, and project management. Mathew's academic background includes a Graduate Certificate in Project Management from The University of Waikato, and ongoing studies toward a Bachelor of Science in Geological and Earth Sciences at The University of Auckland.
