Toby Sells

Toby Sells is an accomplished journalist and podcaster with extensive experience in storytelling and media. Currently serving as a journalist and podcaster at Memphis Flyer since October 2013 and as the founder, host, and producer of State & Beale since January 2024, Toby focuses on celebrating Tennessee's culture, food, and events through a weekly lifestyle podcast. Additionally, Toby has contributed as a journalist at Contemporary Media, Inc. since October 2010, emphasizing a passion for stories and human connections. Previously, Toby created and produced the independent podcast Haint Blues from May 2018 to October 2020, which highlighted mysterious narratives rooted in the American South. Toby holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from Middle Tennessee State University, earned in December 2005.
