Michael Defoin Platel

Michael Defoin Platel has extensive work experience in the field of data science and machine learning. Michael is currently working as the Director of Data Science at Contentsquare since February 2023. Prior to this, they served as the Head of Machine Learning and Innovation at Amadeus IT Group from May 2018 to March 2023.

Before joining Amadeus, Michael worked as a Senior Data Scientist at Médiamétrie for almost five years, from November 2013 to April 2018. Michael also gained experience as a Senior Data Scientist at Orange from November 2011 to February 2013.

Michael's earlier career includes roles such as a Senior Bioinformatics Scientist at Rothamsted Research from November 2008 to October 2011, a Postdoctoral Fellow at The University of Auckland from October 2007 to October 2008, and an Associate Research Fellow at KEDRI from January 2007 to September 2007. Michael also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Centre National d'Études Spatiales from January 2005 to December 2006.

Additionally, Michael has a background in academia, having pursued a Ph.D. in the field of data science as a Ph.D. student at Laboratoire I3S from 2001 to 2004. Furthermore, they gained experience in the industry as a Senior Data Scientist at GridPocket, where they contributed to the development of Big Data solutions for collecting, integrating, and mining Smart Meter data, including involvement in the FP7 BigFoot project.

Michael Defoin Platel completed their education in the field of computer science and artificial intelligence. Michael obtained a PhD from Université Côte d'Azur, where they studied from 2001 to 2004. Prior to that, they pursued a Master's degree in fundamental computer science and bioinformatics at Université Paris Cité from 1998 to 1999. In addition to their formal education, Michael also obtained a certification in Advanced Business Development: Communication and Negotiation from LinkedIn in May 2021.
