Michelle Orr

Michelle Orr has over 20 years of experience in the IT industry. Michelle began their career as a Data Centre Analyst at Siemens IT Solutions and Services Pvt. Ltd., where they later became a Team Lead and then a Technical Manager. Michelle also worked at Elan Pharmaceuticals as a Senior Technical Specialist and later as a Technical Services Manager and Senior Technical Services Manager. Michelle then joined Forfas as a Network Administrator, where they designed and maintained technological solutions. At LeasePlan Information Services, Michelle worked in Operations Management, overseeing server management and monitoring performance. Currently, Michelle is the Head of Security and Compliance at Continent 8 Technologies, where they lead the implementation and maintenance of the Information Security Management System.

Michelle Orr has a diverse education history. In 1993 to 1997, they attended Technological University Dublin and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science. Years later, from 2009 to 2011, Michelle attended Trinity College Dublin and earned a Master of Science degree in the Management of Information Systems.

In addition to their formal education, Michelle has also obtained several certifications. In 1999, they achieved the PRINCE2 certification, followed by the ITIL Foundation Version 3 in 2007. Michelle became a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer in 2003 and a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) in 2014. Moving forward, they obtained the ISO/IEC 27001 Foundation certification in 2016, followed by the Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) in 2016, ISO/IEC 27032 Lead Cybersecurity Manager in 2017, ISO 27001 Lead Implementer in 2018, and ISO 27001 Lead Auditor in 2018 as well. Most recently, Michelle obtained the Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe (CIPP/E) certification in 2018 and the Certified Information Privacy Technologist (CIPT) certification in 2022, both from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals.
