Tony Alvarez

Tony Alvarez has an extensive work experience spanning over several positions and companies. Starting in 1994, Tony worked as a Computer Repair Technician at Information Resource Management at Florida International University. Tony then progressed to become a Senior Computer Repair Technician and later a Coordinator at University Technology Services. In 2005, they transitioned to the role of Information Technology Coordinator at Florida International University - College of Law. Following this, they served as an Information Systems Auditor for the Office of the President at Florida International University in 2007. Tony then joined Miami Dade College in 2008, where they held roles as a Senior Network Analyst and later a Senior Database Analyst in the District Network Services department. Tony'snext move was to Assurant in 2012, where they became a Senior Database Engineer. Tony's responsibilities at Assurant included supporting the operational needs of the SQL Server database platform and executing project and internal initiative responsibilities related to the SQL Server and associated infrastructure. In 2015, they took on the role of Manager, Engineering and Technology Services at Assurant, followed by a promotion to Senior Manager, Platform Engineering - Data Platforms in 2017. Tony left Assurant in 2020 and joined Conviva Care Centers in the position of Security Operations Center Lead. Tony provided supervision and oversight for Security Analysts and ensured the delivery of world-class service to customers. Additionally, Tony performed various tasks such as incident investigation, handling and response, triaging incoming issues, and maintaining awareness of the current threat landscape. In 2021, Tony was promoted to the role of Associate Director, CyberSecurity Policy and Standards at Conviva Care Centers.

Tony Alvarez has a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree in Management and Information Systems from Florida International University's College of Business. Additionally, they have acquired various certifications throughout their career. In 2006, they obtained the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP): Installing, Configuring, and Administering Microsoft Windows XP Professional certification. The following year, in 2007, they obtained the Microsoft Certified Professional (MCP): Managing and Maintaining a Microsoft Windows Server 2003 Environment certification. In 2008, they obtained the CompTIA Security+ Certification. In 2010, they earned the Virtual Infrastructure Professional certification from the Virtualization Council. In 2019, they obtained the Standard Level First Aid, CPR, and AED certification from the Emergency Care & Safety Institute. Continuing their certifications, in 2020, Tony achieved the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification from Microsoft. More recently, in 2022, they obtained three certifications: the Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certification from (ISC)², the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification, also from (ISC)², and the Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP) certification, again from (ISC)².
