Process Engineer at Contura

Samir Ben Chaabane has been working in the field of biotechnology since 2011. Samir began as a Laboratory Assistant at Santaris Pharma A/S in 2008. In 2011, they became a PhD Student and Research Assistant at the Dept. of Plants and Environment and Center for Synthetic Biology, University of Copenhagen. In 2015, they co-founded Synbio Innovation, where they worked to make useful ideas prosper by engaging with scientists with entrepreneurial ambitions. In 2017, they became a Plant Engineer at Nextfood, where they developed and optimized grow system hardware, consumables and processes. In 2019, they became an Industrial Postdoctoral Researcher at Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen. In 2020, they became a Process Engineer at Contura International Ltd, where they are responsible for developing, maintaining and operating a quality management system in compliance with relevant standards, medical directives and regulations, FDA and EU MDR and GMP. Samir also drives process design and development, design control, documentation, risk management, usability engineering, process validations, and stability.

Samir Ben Chaabane obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Microbiology from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen between 2004 and 2008. Samir then continued their studies at the same university, earning a Master of Science (MSc) in Plant Molecular Biology between 2008 and 2011. In 2009, they also spent time at Universidade Estadual de Campinas. Finally, Samir Ben Chaabane completed their education with a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from Københavns Universitet - University of Copenhagen between 2012 and 2015.
