Matt Brown

Chief Mine Engineer at Conuma Coal

Matt Brown has a diverse work experience in the mining industry. Matt currently holds the position of Chief Mine Engineer at Conuma Resources since July 2021. Before that, they worked at Hexagon Mining as a MinePlan Advisor from August 2019 to June 2021. Prior to that, they were a Mid Range Planning Engineer at Baffinland from June 2018 to August 2019. Matt also gained experience as a Short Range Planning Engineer - Engineering Lead Hand at Conuma Coal Resources from August 2017 to May 2018. Matt's early career started at Walter Energy in 2011, where they held various roles including Production Engineer, Drill and Blast Engineer, and Mid and Long Range Planning Engineer. Overall, Matt has developed expertise in mine planning, supervision, and management.

Matt Brown completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Beedie School of Business at Simon Fraser University from 2016 to 2017. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.Sc.) in Mining and Mineral Engineering from Queen's University, which they completed from 2005 to 2010. In addition to their formal education, Matt also obtained the certification in "Excel 2016 Essential Training" from Lynda.com in August 2016.
