Hans van Dam has a diverse work experience in the field of conversational AI. Hans is the CEO of the Conversation Design Institute since 2018. In 2023, they became an Advisory Board Member of The TrustMark Initiative at the Open Voice Network, where they focus on promoting ethical principles in conversational AI. Hans also holds the position of Senior Industry Research Fellow at RMIT University since 2022. Additionally, they are involved in the CDI Foundation as a Board Member, working towards developing design standards for conversational AI Assistants. Hans co-founded and is a board member of CDI Services since 2021. In the past, they worked as a copywriter at CX Company from 2014 to 2017, and at ACE (Amsterdam Center for Entrepreneurship) from 2013 to 2014, where they contributed to the acceleration of science-based and technology companies.
Hans van Dam started their education in 2001 with a high school exchange program at Winston Churchill High School in Eugene, Oregon. After completing their high school education, they attended UiT- The Arctic University of Norway in 2004-2005, although no degree information was provided for this period. In 2005-2006, they pursued their Economics studies at NHL Hogeschool and obtained a Propedeuse degree. From 2006 to 2010, Hans attended the University of Amsterdam, where they completed their Bachelor's degree in European Studies. Furthering their education, they pursued a Master's degree in European Studies at the University of Amsterdam from 2011 to 2012.
