David Schattner has over 30 years of work experience in various engineering roles. David began their career as a Mechanical Development Engineer at International Business Machines (IBM) and later worked as a Mechanical Sustaining Engineer, solving problems with current products. David also took on a role as a Translation Supervisor, leading a team that provided localization of documentation and software for non-English-speaking countries. David then joined Lexmark International, where they designed electromechanical components for color laser printers and worked on cost reduction projects. David later worked at Belcan Engineering as a Mechanical Design Engineer, designing aviation maintenance tooling. Currently, they are working at Cooper Lighting Solutions as a Principal Mechanical Engineer, responsible for the development of new energy-saving wireless connected Smart LED Lighting Controls. Throughout their career, David has gained expertise in areas such as GD&T, assembly of plastics, lean manufacturing, and Six Sigma.
David Schattner obtained a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) from the University of Miami, where they studied from 1976 to 1980. In addition to their degree, they have also obtained various certifications throughout their career, including Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing Professional - Senior (GDTP) from ASME (The American Society of Mechanical Engineers) in 2020, Professional Engineer (PE) from the Georgia State Board of Engineers and Land Surveyors in 2015, NCEES Record Holder from the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying in 2008, Lean Six Sigma Green Belt, DMAIC from Lexmark International, Inc in 2007, and ISO 9000 Internal Auditor from Lexmark International, Inc in November 1994.
