Lauren Budesa

Vice President, Surgical Services Institute at Cooper University Health Care

Lauren Budesa, MBA, FACMPE has a diverse work experience spanning across different healthcare and academic institutions. Lauren is currently working as the Vice President of the Surgical Services Institute at Cooper University Health Care, a position they started in 2023. Prior to this, they held the role of Associate Chief Operating Officer in the Department of Surgery at Penn Medicine, University of Pennsylvania Health System from 2018 to 2023.

In 2016, Lauren worked as the Director of Administration and Finance at Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing the administrative and financial operations of the New Jersey Institute for Successful Aging (NJISA) and the Department of Geriatrics and Gerontology. Lauren also led the daily operations of Rowan Geriatric Medicine and Psychiatry and Rowan Medicine House Calls.

Lauren's earlier roles at Rowan University include serving as an Adjunct Professor of Economics from 2014 to 2017 and as a Business Administrator in the Department of Geriatrics from 2015 to 2016. Lauren also worked as a Business Manager and a Supervising Budget Analyst, managing grant-funded projects and providing financial guidance.

Before their time at Rowan University, Lauren was an Adjunct Professor of Accounting and Economics at Camden County College from 2005 to 2014. Lauren also held the position of Executive Assistant/Finance Manager at Camden County Council No.10 from 2000 to 2005, where they provided management assistance and financial support to the President of a public employees' labor union.

Throughout their career, Lauren has demonstrated expertise in healthcare administration, finance, and academic instruction. Lauren holds an MBA degree and is a Fellow of the American College of Medical Practice Executives (FACMPE).

Lauren Budesa has a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Finance from Rutgers University - Camden, which they obtained from 1999 to 2003. Lauren pursued further education and completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Accounting from Rutgers University - Camden between 2004 and 2005. In 2017, they achieved a Graduate Certificate in Population Health from Jefferson Health. Lauren has also obtained several certifications throughout their career, including Certified Medical Practice Executive (CMPE) in 2014, Lean Six Sigma in 2016, and Fellow (FACMPE) from the MGMA in 2016. Lauren is expected to become a Fellow Candidate with the American College of Healthcare Executives in the fall of 2023.
