Jurgen Bailom

President & CEO at Cordelia Cruises

Jurgen Bailom has a strong background in the cruise industry, holding various leadership positions throughout their career. Jurgen is currently the President & CEO of Cordelia Cruises since January 2021. Prior to that, they served as President & CEO of Jalesh Cruises from May 2018.

In 2018, Bailom joined Essel Group as President & CEO, where they were responsible for starting and creating a cruise line, taking it public through an IPO, and developing multiple cruise brands. Before that, they worked as President & CEO of Grupo Vidanta in 2017, overseeing the operations of luxury hotels, resorts, entertainment venues, golf courses, and theme parks.

From 2015 to 2017, Bailom served as the Chief Operating Officer & Vice President of Royal Caribbean International, where they were instrumental in stabilizing and turning around operations, rebranding the company, and creating a strategic plan for future growth. Prior to that, they held the position of Senior Corporate Director at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. in 2015.

Bailom also has experience working in the hospitality sector, as they were the Senior Vice President of Operations at The Maho Group from 2014 to 2015. In this role, they focused on centralization, building international relationships, culture change, and overseeing the development of a new luxury 5-star resort.

Before joining The Maho Group, Bailom worked at Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. from 2010 to 2014 as the Fleet Hotel Director & Project Director of Hotel Operations, New Building & Revitalization. Jurgen played a key role in spearheading a multimillion-dollar upgrade of the company's fleet.

Bailom's career in the cruise industry began in 2002 when they joined Island Cruises as the Vice President International. Jurgen was responsible for driving the repositioning of the company in response to industry and consumer resistance to the brand launch.

Throughout their career, Bailom has demonstrated strong leadership skills and a track record of successfully managing and transforming cruise and hospitality organizations.

Jurgen Bailom had a diverse education history. Jurgen studied at Canterbury University Kent and obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Tourism in 1994. Prior to that, they attended the University Hotel School of Vienna & WIFI from 1985 to 1988, where they earned a Bachelor's degree, ultimately obtaining an MBA in 1994. Jurgen'sstudies focused on Hotel, Tourism, Culinary, Service, and Management. In 1989, Jurgen attended the Military Academy for National Service, which lasted for nine months. Additionally, they studied at the Berufsschule fuer Hotel and Gastgewerbe Wien from 1984 to 1987, obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Culinary, Tourism, Service, and Management. Before that, in 1984 and 1985, they attended the Politechnischer Lehrgang, College of Business, where they earned an Ordinary Diploma in Business Administration and Languages.
