Sheikh Waqar Ahmad

Sheikh Waqar Ahmad has a diverse work experience in various sectors. Sheikh Waqar began their career as a Junior Consultant at The World Bank, where they conducted surveys and prepared reports on small and medium enterprises. Sheikh Waqar then worked as the Executive Director at the SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industry for seven years, providing leadership in regional trade development. Ahmad also served as the Chief Executive of The Network for Consumer Protection, where they led advocacy campaigns and managed project finances. Sheikh Waqar later worked as a Private Sector Specialist at The World Bank, focusing on economic revitalization and public-private partnerships. In 2011, Ahmad joined Nestlé as the Senior Manager of Public Affairs, and later became the Head of Corporate Affairs and Sustainability for Pakistan and Afghanistan. Currently, they are the Chief Executive Officer and Founding Director of CoRe Alliance, a packaging alliance aiming to eliminate packaging waste and promote a circular economy. Overall, Ahmad has demonstrated strong leadership and expertise in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and sustainability.

Sheikh Waqar Ahmad holds an MPA in Economic Policy Management from Columbia | SIPA, which they obtained from 2009-2010. Sheikh Waqar also holds a Chevenig Fellowship in Responsible Business & Sustainability from the University of Nottingham in 2008. In 2003, they attended the Friedrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom and completed an International Leadership Academy focused on Free Market Economy and Liberal Agenda. Additionally, they have an MSc in International Business from the University of Wollongong, earned from 1998-1999. In the field of International Relations, Sheikh Waqar Ahmad obtained an MSc from Quaid-i-Azam University, Islamabad, between 1995-1997. Sheikh Waqar has also pursued an Associate's degree in Business Administration and Management, General, through the Chevening Awards program. In 2023, they will be attending the University of Oxford for the Oxford Media Policy Summer Institute, where they will focus on Artificial Intelligence & New Technologies.
