Melissa's earlier experience includes roles at AIG, where they served as the Chief Information Officer for Latin America, Information Officer - Regional Infrastructure Lead for Latin America and the Caribbean, Information Technology Head of Central America and the Caribbean Region, and Operations and IT Head for the Panama office. In these positions, they were responsible for various aspects of IT operations, applications, infrastructure, compliance, security, and disaster recovery. Melissa also played a crucial role in divestiture strategies and modernization efforts.

Melissa De León obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering from Universidad Tecnológica de Panamá in the years 1986 to 1991. Melissa then pursued further studies at the Fox School of Business at Temple University from 1996 to 1998, earning a Master's Degree in Business Administration with a Concentration in Information Sciences.
