Mitchell Hortin has a diverse work experience spanning over ten years. Mitchell started their career as a Technical Support Engineer at Spectra-Physics in 2010 before moving on to work as an Engineering Intern at JWP Manufacturing in 2011. In 2012, they worked as an Engineering Intern at Spectra-Physics again, followed by a Research Assistant position at Brigham Young University.
In 2013, Mitchell had two roles: a Graduate Engineering Intern at Sandia National Laboratories and a Graduate Research Assistant at Brigham Young University's Applied Biomechanical Engineering Laboratory. During their time at the lab, they focused on material characterization for spinal ligaments and improved the finite element model of the human lumbar spine.

Mitchell worked there for four years before transitioning to Coreform in 2019. At Coreform, they served as a CAE Software Developer, although the duration of their role is unspecified.
Mitchell Hortin completed their Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Brigham Young University from 2006 to 2013. Mitchell then pursued a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution, which they completed from 2013 to 2015. Currently, they are enrolled in Brigham Young University to attain a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Civil Engineering. Mitchell'sexpected graduation year for the PhD program is 2024.
