Wei Du has extensive work experience in the field of spatial solutions and hazard research. Starting in 2006, Wei worked as a Principal Scientist at CoreLogic Spatial Solutions, where they led the development of various analytic tools and methodologies related to flood risk, hazard data layers, and hydraulic analysis. They also conducted research on flood insurance policies in collaboration with Wharton School of Business and Swiss Re. Prior to this, Wei held the position of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at First American Federal Solutions, where they led a technology team providing software and data solutions for U.S. federal government agencies. They also worked as a Senior Engineer at Formal HDM, a Project Lead at IBM, and served as a Partner, CTO, and VP of Engineering at Harvard Design & Mapping Co. In addition, Wei was a co-founder and held the position of CTO at SmartCity.com, Inc. where they developed web-based technology for selling homes. Wei began their career as a Hydrologic Scientist at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and later worked as a Research Assistant at the Center for Technology, Environment, and Development (CENTED) at Clark University.
Wei Du completed a PhD in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) from Clark University from 1986 to 1993. Prior to that, from 1982 to 1984, Wei Du obtained a Master of Arts degree in Hydrologic and Environmental Science from the Chinese Academy of Sciences. Wei Du's education journey began with a Bachelor of Science degree in Hydrologic Engineering from Sichuan University, which was earned from 1977 to 1981.
