Aurélien Laguerre

Aurélien Laguerre has a diverse work experience in the field of chemical biology. Aurélien is currently employed at Zafrens as a Senior Scientist, specializing in chemical biology. Prior to this role, they worked as a Postdoctoral Scientist and NIH K99/R00 Fellow at Oregon Health and Science University from September 2017 to July 2022. In this position, they focused on utilizing chemical biology tools to investigate heteromeric complexes of cannabinoid receptors and studied the role of CB1 and CB2 in regulating intracellular calcium oscillations and insulin secretion.

Before joining Oregon Health and Science University, Aurélien worked as a Postdoctoral Scientist at EMBL from October 2016 to September 2017. Here, they conducted opto-chemical manipulations of endocannabinoid levels in live cells and tissues, while also contributing to the relocation of the lab to OHSU in Portland, Oregon.

Aurélien's earlier work experience includes a role as a Junior Scientist at UBFC - Université Bourgogne-Franche-Comté from October 2013 to September 2016. In this position, they focused on the design, synthesis, and study of bio-inspired compounds for the direct visualization of RNA/DNA G-quadruplexes in live cells.

Aurélien also gained research experience as a Research Assistant at EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne) from March 2012 to September 2012. Here, they specialized in the synthesis of targeting ligands for αvβ3 integrins and the synthesis of tripeptide derivatives using solid phase peptide synthesis techniques.
