John Christensen, CPA, CA, TEP has a diverse and extensive work experience. John currently holds the position of Regional Vice President, Tax and Estate Planning at CI Private Wealth since January 2020. Before this, they worked at EY as a Senior Manager, Tax from July 2017 to January 2020, where they provided advisory services to private company and personal clients. Prior to that, they were employed at KPMG Canada, where they worked as a Manager, Tax from September 2013 to June 2017, and as a Senior Tax Staff from May 2011 to September 2013. John started their career at EY as an Audit Staff/Summer Student in May 2006 and later became an Audit Senior from September 2008 to May 2011. Throughout their career, John has gained experience in income tax compliance, financial statement preparation, planning and reorganization work, as well as providing business advice to owner/managed businesses. Additionally, they have worked on public company audits and has also gained international experience working on engagements in Chicago, Indianapolis, and Houston.

John Christensen, CPA, CA, TEP has a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree with a focus on Accounting and Finance from the University of Alberta, which they obtained in 2007. John then pursued their Chartered Accountant (CA) designation from the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada (CPA Canada) and completed it in 2010. In 2012, they further enhanced their expertise in taxation by completing the In-Depth Taxation program, levels 1, 2, and 3, offered by CPA Canada. Continuing their professional development, John obtained the TEP (Trust and Estate Practitioners) designation from STEP Canada | The Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (Canada) in 2022. Presently, John is enrolled in the CFP (Certified Financial Planner) program at FP Canada, which they are expected to complete in 2024.
