Christopher Dews comes to Cornerstone after serving as the senior policy advocate at the Job Opportunities Task Force (JOTF) for three years. He now serves as an assistant vice president in the firm's Annapolis office.
During his time at JOTF, he advocated for policy and budgetary proposals that advanced lower-income workers to higher-wage jobs in Maryland. He managed coalitions of community, advocacy, workforce, and legal partnerships to advance legislation that eliminated barriers to employment including criminal record expungements, license suspensions and funding for skills training. Christopher complemented this work by developing and implementing media advocacy strategies throughout the state of Maryland.
Prior to his work at JOTF, he worked as a training coordinator at the Civic Works Center for Sustainable Careers, where he recruited, trained and managed unemployed, under-employed and formerly incarcerated Baltimore City residents in green construction positions (i.e. Solar Panel Installation, lead and asbestos removal, et. al).
Before his time at the Civic Works Center for Sustainable Careers, Christopher was a stage, commercial and film actor throughout Maryland. He received his Bachelor of Fine Arts in acting from the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC).
