Katelyn Bunning

Katelyn Bunning joined Cornerstone’s federal government relations team in April 2021 as a principal. She began her career with Leader McConnell’s office in May 2010 as a staff assistant. Over the past decade, she rapidly climbed the ranks and became a key member of Sen. McConnell’s policy staff where she was responsible for handling a variety of issues.

Prior to joining Cornerstone, she served as a legislative director to Sen. McConnell, advising him on education, energy, environment, and agricultural policy, among others. In her role as legislative director, she managed a policy team of five legislative assistants and five legislative correspondents. She also served as a direct liaison between the Senator’s personal and leadership offices.

Katelyn was a valued and long-serving member of Leader McConnell’s team and had a direct hand in a number of his legislative priorities and victories over the past decade. More specifically, she served as lead policy advisor for the Leader’s Horseracing Integrity and Safety Act, which was signed into law as part of the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2021 (P.L. 116-260), the passage of the Bipartisan American Miners Act of 2019, which was signed into law as part of the FY20 spending bill (P.L. 116-94), and lead policy advisor regarding the floor proceedings and passage of the Every Student Succeeds Act (P.L. 114-95). Additionally, she played key roles in appropriations bills and served as legislative director during the Senate’s efforts on health care reform and the 2017 tax reform bills.

Katelyn is a native of Louisville, KY and graduated from The University of the South in Sewanee, TN in 2010, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science.
