Kenya Smith has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over two decades. Kenya began their professional career in the US Army as an Aviation Operations specialist from 1995 to 1999. Following their military service, they worked as a Nurse for Trover Health Systems from 1999 to 2001. Kenya then joined HealthSouth, where they served as the Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) from 2001 to 2010. After that, they transitioned to ICON Hospital, where they held several leadership positions, including Chief Executive Officer (CEO) from 2016 to 2017. Additionally, they served as the Interim CEO and Chief Clinical Officer (CCO) during their tenure at ICON Hospital. Currently, Kenya is employed at Cornerstone Healthcare Group, where they hold the position of Corporate Senior Director of Clinical Operations since December 2016. With their educational background of a BSN and MBA, as well as their designation as NEA-BC, Kenya Smith is well-qualified and experienced in healthcare management and clinical operations.

Kenya Smith holds a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Registered Nursing/Registered Nurse from Louisiana State University and Southern University and Agricultural and Mechanical College at Baton Rouge. Additionally, they have completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Business Administration and Management from Texas Woman's University. Kenya also earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Health/Health Care Administration/Management from The University of Texas at Dallas between 2012 and 2015.
