Kathy Fredrickson

Director, Collections & Curatorial Affairs at Corning Museum of Glass

Kathy Fredrickson joined The Corning Museum of Glass as the Director, Collections and Curatorial Affairs in September 2022.

As a member of the Museum's leadership team, Fredrickson will oversee the Museum’s collections directorate, including Collections Management (registrars, preparators, photographers), Conservation, Curatorial and Publications, working with the entire team on collections stewardship, exhibition, and research.

Before joining CMOG, Fredrickson held the role of Chief of Curatorial Affairs and Director of Exhibition Research and Publishing at the Peabody Essex Museum (PEM) in Salem, MA. In those roles, she supported the creation of ambitious exhibitions and oversaw PEM’s publications program. In addition to her background in curatorial affairs, Fredrickson’s professional experience includes communications, strategic planning, and publishing in both print and digital forms. Formerly Fredrickson was a partner at Studio Blue, a design firm based in Chicago where her clients included the Driehaus Museum (Chicago), The School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Terra Foundation. As an independent consultant, her clients included the Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, the Cantor Art Center at Stanford University, and the Natural History Museum of Denmark.

Fredrickson holds a master's degree in arts administration and public policy from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a bachelor's degree in English literature from Middlebury College. While at Studio Blue, Chicago, she served as president of the American Institute of Graphic Art (AIGA) 1,500-member Chicago chapter and on the AIGA national board as presidents’ council chair.
