Paul Westergaard MD MEng is an accomplished medical professional with extensive experience in critical care and medical informatics. Currently serving as the Chief Medical Information Officer and Medical Director of Intensive Care at Cornwall Community Hospital since August 2015, Paul also holds positions as an Intensivist and General Internist. Previous roles include Intensivist and General Internist at Hôpital Montfort and completing a residency in Internal and Critical Care Medicine at The Ottawa Hospital. Paul is recognized for contributions to medical software development for clinical decision support and research in health systems efficiency and patient safety, earning the Garner King Award from the Canadian Critical Care Forum. Paul also has a strong background in engineering, having worked at ViXS Systems Inc. in product management and design engineering, and at AMD as a design engineer. Educational qualifications include an MD from McMaster University and both M.Eng and B.A.Sc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto.

Cornwall Community Hospital (CCH) provides a full range of acute inpatient, outpatient and community mental health services to their catchment area of 110,000 people from the communities of Cornwall, the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry and to the Mohawk Community of Akwesasne. With 165 beds, more than 1200 employees and 180 physicians, CCH offers a wide range of care and services. These include emergency, surgical, medicine and rehabilitation services, mental health and addiction programs as well as a family birthing centre.
